Oil and graphite on linen

My paintings are interior dialogues, inspired by music, poetry, travel and nature. This self-portrait (1 of 4) was made during a sabbatical-retreat in Mendocino. My house was tucked into woods with a stream running below my studio window. There was a Raven’s nest further up the ravine, often flying past my window while I worked. Ravens have many symbolic meanings in Pacific Indigenous cultures including "Clarifying Truths". It was a privilege to live near them.
