Artist Statement
"Rise" was created in the aftermath of my recovery from meningitis. After the abrupt downturn of my health, hospitalization, and long recovery that followed, the experience pushed me to discover a tenacity within that I haven't had to reach for before that point. "Rise" is meant to be a celebration of the commonly shared experience of recovering from illness.
